3-year-old child considered England's youngest alcoholic... ever

A hard-drinking 3-year-old has been diagnosed as Britain's youngest ever alcoholic.

Doctors treated the unnamed child for withdrawal systems after the toddler suffered the shakes and wild mood swings.

Experts suspect the youngster would have to have been given booze repeatedly over at least a six-month period to develop such a dependency.

"To be diagnosed an alcoholic ... they would have had to ingest enough to cause withdrawal symptoms," Nicolay Sorenson of advocacy group Alcohol Concern told The Telegraph.

"Whatever the circumstances, it is a truly horrifying case and raises very serious child protection issues."

The youngster was one of 13 people under the age of 12 who were diagnosed as alcoholics by Britain's National Health Service between 2008 and 2010.

"We treat alcohol abuse very seriously, and have specialist teams and experts on hand who are there to treat young patients with alcohol-related problems," said an NHS spokeswoman.

Health officials declined to give details of the 3-year-old's condition or disclose the toddler's identity due to patient confidentiality rules.

Teen in Arizona attacked pregnant friend, tried to cut baby out of her

Kassandra Toruga allegedly attempted to butcher her pregnant friend and cut her baby out of her womb, police said

A baby-crazed teen in Arizona has admitted attacking her nine-month-pregnant friend and trying to the cut the unborn child out of her womb, Arizona police said.

Firefighters nabbed Kassandra Toruga, 18, of Maricopa in her friend's home Feb. 16 with two big butcher's knives, scissors, diapers and a big bag of baby clothes, local police said.

Cops said Toruga admitted she planned to kill her pal and perform a gruesome, amateur C-section because she wanted a baby of her own.

The teen was so obsessed that she told friends she was pregnant and even used an ultrasound image as her MySpace profile picture, Phoenix TV station KPHO reported.

Police said the teen has a history of mental illness.

Firefighters were at the scene because Toruga set fire to her friend's closet during the horrific attack, cops said.

The friend eventually gave birth to the baby but is terrified Toruga will try to hunt her down and steal the child, KPHO reported.

Toruga has been charged with first-degree attempted murder, arson and burglary. She's being held in lieu $500,000 bond.

Ashley Renee Couch tosses baby in snow bank during fight

Ashley Renee Couch didn't know what else to do with her 18-day-old baby while she fought with her boyfriend Deontae Thurmond on Saturday morning, so in a moment of seriously poor judgment, she threw it in a snow bank.
The tiny infant was wrapped in a blanket and wearing nothing else but a T-shirt in the freezing morning air.

By the time medics got the baby to Hennepin County Medical Center, its core temperature was 95 degrees -- close to hypothermia. This morning, the baby's condition has been upgraded from critical to serious.

The fight started after Thurmond refused to go buy milk and Couch chased him out into the street.

Update: Thurmond was arrested on suspicion of domestic assault, a misdemeanor, and is scheduled for a court appearance March 9. Couch was arrested on suspicion of child neglect. She's being held at the Hennepin County jail, and her baby has been placed in protective custody.

"Like a major league baseball player in a windup -- that's how hard she threw the child," one witness told WCCO.

Laura Lynn Hickey Decapitated Her Newborn Boy, Stuffed Him Under the Sink

On March 2, paramedics where called to the Centralia, Washington home of 25-year-old Laura Lynn Hickey after neighbors heard her screaming. She was rushed to a hospital, where she told doctors she'd just suffered a miscarriage. They could find the fetus under her kitchen sink...

The problem with her tale is that doctors are a whole lot smarter than the racket she'd conjured up. Their examination of Hickey indicated she'd already given birth. And when police went back to her trailer home, they found the boy stuffed under her sink, just as she said. But he was headless.

A subsequent autopsy revealed the child hadn't died from complications at birth. He died from being decapitated.

As you may have guessed, Hickey had already made a name for herself as a shitty mother. She has three other children, all of whom were yanked from her custody a year ago, though we don't have details why.

She's now charged with first-degree murder.
